#1 Business Donor to the Arts (November 2011)
Awarded by: Business for Culture and the Arts
PGE/PGE Foundation ranked No. 1 among business donors to Portland metro arts and culture organizations, over the last ten years, by the Portland Business Journal. An award was presented to PGE/PGE Foundation at the Business for Culture and the Arts Breakfast of Champions.

Spotlight Awards (October 2011)
Awarded by: Public Relations Society of America, Portland Chapter
PGE’s Public Policy team earned Spotlight Awards, at the 2011 Public Relations Society of America, Portland Chapter Spotlight Awards, in the Reputation/Brand Management category for “Constituency Outreach” and “Save More, Matter More.” In addition, the team earned Merit Awards in the Community Relations category for “Plant It Portland;” and in the Issue Management category for “The Boardman 2010 Plan.”

Corporate Philanthropy Awards (September 2011)
Awarded by: Portland Business Journal
PGE/PGE Foundation ranked No. 8 among large companies, for its corporate giving to the community, at Portland Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards.

Arts Advocacy Award (July 2011)
Awarded by: National Association of Oregon Counties
Carole Morse, president of PGE Foundation and PGE manager of Community Investment Initiatives, received the individual Arts Advocacy Award for her outstanding support for the arts.

Most Business and Residential Renewable Power Customers (May 2011)
Awarded by: Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory
PGE has more renewable power customers than any other utility in the United States. That’s according to the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, which released its annual rankings of the nation’s top utility green pricing programs on May 9. At the end of 2010, PGE had almost 78,000 business and residential renewable customers, or 12.6 percent of its eligible customers, enrolled in a PGE renewable power program, which is well over the national average of 2 percent participation rate for other utilities. This marks the second consecutive year PGE has received NREL’s No. 1 ranking for number of business and residential renewable power customers. PGE also continues to hold NREL’s top spot for selling more renewable power to residential customers than any other utility in the United States.

Grand Award (April 2011)
Awarded by: American Council of Engineering Companies
The Selective Water Withdrawal project (the 273-foot-tall floating fish collection facility and underwater tower situated at Pelton Round Butte) received the Grand Award, which recognizes firms for projects that demonstrate a high degree of innovation, achievement, and value.

Outstanding Stewards of American Waters Award (April 2011)
Awarded by: National Hydropower Association
The Selective Water Withdrawal project (the 273-foot-tall floating fish collection facility and underwater tower situated at Pelton Round Butte) received the Outstanding Stewards of American Waters Award, which recognizes significant, innovative projects that serve as models for the hydro industry.

Junior Achievement Appreciation Award (April 2011)

As Junior Achievement of Oregon and Southwest Washington celebrated its 25,000th student at a mid-April ceremony, the nonprofit also recognized PGE for both our financial assistance and volunteer efforts, which have contributed to the success of JA and its four-year-old BizTown program.

Orchid Award (April 2011)
Awarded by: Portland Business Journal
Karla Wenzel, supervisor with Rates & Regulatory Affairs at WTC, was one of 25 women to receive an Orchid Award from the Portland Business Journal on April 7 during the 2011 Women of Influence Awards Luncheon. The Orchid Awards recognize the significant achievements of women leaders from across the state. Wenzel was nominated for the honor by Maria Pope, senior vice president of Finance, and Rachel Bristol, CEO of the Oregon Food Bank, where Wenzel has been a board member for six years and board chair for three.

Project of the Year Awards (April 2011)
Awarded by: PGE Project Management Alliance
Winners of PGE’s sixth annual Project of the Year Awards were the PeopleSoft HRMS Upgrade team in the large project category and the Online Agency Portal team in the small project category. The General Rate Case project received our newest award, Improvement Project of the Year. This award recognizes managers and teams who drive improvements that create great business value or improve the customer experience.

HR Leadership Award (March 2011)
Awarded by: Portland Business Journal
Arleen Barnett, vice president of Human Resources, was honored with the inaugural HR Leadership Award. Created by the Portland Business Journal, this award honors HR professionals across the region for their often unsung contributions to their companies’ success.

Community Partnership Award (January 2011)
Awarded by: Portland Public Schools
Portland Public Schools awarded its inaugural Community Partnership award to PGE and our employees. Steve Hawke, vice president of Customer Service, Transmission and Distribution accepted the award on behalf of the company, the PGE Foundation and our employees, who have recorded more than 5,600 hours and donated close to $50,000 to the Portland Schools Foundation through the Employee Giving Campaign in the last three years alone.

Grassroots Innovation Award (January 2011)
Awarded by: Public Affairs Council
Operation Switch (PGE’s energy-efficiency social media campaign) received the Public Affairs Council’s prestigious Grassroots Innovation Award. The award, which recognizes excellence in grassroots advocacy campaigns, was presented to PGE for “innovative methods of engaging their communities on important issues like energy efficiency and proving yet again that real people can make a real difference when provided the right tools.”

EEI Advocacy Excellence Award (January 2011)
Awarded by: Edison Electric Institute
PGE was honored with the EEI Advocacy Excellence Award for a successful statewide outreach and grassroots campaign to support plans for our Boardman plant.

Lifetime Achievement Award (January 2011)
Awarded by: World Arts Foundation
Linda Banks, a specialist with Organization Development & Learning at WTC, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Arts Foundation during a celebration of the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. Banks was recognized for her more than 20 years of service to the community, including serving as a World English Institute volunteer for 12 years, a board member for Uniting to Understand Racism for 11 years, a volunteer for the Multicultural Resource Center for the World Affairs Council, and co-creator of PGE’s Diversity Summit.
