PGE’s diverse energy portfolio enables us to deliver reliable power at reasonable cost.

The makeup of our energy mix determines how we supply your power needs. We understand that too narrow a dependence on one type of resource, whether it’s natural gas, wind, hydropower or coal — can threaten reliability and increase costs. That is why PGE seeks to provide energy from a range of sources.

Reliable and sustainable electricity
PGE is committed to providing a reliable, sustainable source of reasonably priced electricity. We helped develop the Renewable Energy Standard adopted by the Oregon legislature in 2007. The landmark legislation mandates that Oregon’s largest utilities acquire 25 percent of their electricity from new renewable energy sources by 2025.

PGE is working hard to achieve the “25 by 25” goal. Our 2009 resource plan, filed with the Oregon Public Utility Commission, sets a target of procuring another 122 average megawatts of renewable power by 2015 and 168 more average megawatts by 2020.

This additional energy, combined with our existing renewable resources and the construction of Biglow Canyon Wind Farm, will help us reach our goal.

Increasing customers’ energy efficiency
We are also working with Energy Trust of Oregon to promote and expand energy efficiency among our customers. From 2009 to 2015, customer energy-efficiency measures are expected to reduce our projected power growth by 214 average megawatts.
