Charging at Home
PGE can help you prepare your home for easy plug-and-go charging.

Different kinds of plugs for your home
How do you charge your electric vehicle? It’s actually quite easy. Plug it in at night, and in the morning, you’re ready to drive.

Level 1: 8 to 12 hours
You can plug in to a standard, three-prong 110-volt outlet. But this kind of plug has a long charge time and may stress your home’s electrical system. You may want to consider installing a Level 2 charger.

Level 2: 4 to 8 hours
For faster charging, you can have a 220-volt charger — similar to what’s used for a clothes dryer — installed in your garage. A garage is recommended to protect the charger from the elements.

Depending on which type of electric vehicle you choose, your dealer may recommend a particular charging station type. Otherwise, you can use a licensed electrical contractor to install a charging station of your choice. You can also contact a PGE Service Coordinator for more information.
